The One

The One
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Putting on your smile with a little dimple,
Scarlet lips, so inviting, so kissable.
In awe of you, you're way too cute to handle,
Makes me wanna do you nothing but cuddle.

A glance of your photos gladly starts my day.
Funny how everything you do excites me,
Just wink and you'll have me in captivity,
No one does it like you do, yeah nobody.

Here's silly me, thinking that you liked me too,
That you might reciprocate what I've felt for you,
Like it was as perfect and vivid as hue,
But sadly, it clearly wasn't. It was blue.

As I watch you being happy with someone
Triggers jealousy 'coz it was never fun,
It irks me thinking that I wasn't that man.
Reality strikes, I can never be the one.

SWIFT AS THE MIDNIGHT
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Once, there was you, a total vigilante shit,
Took everything in your hands but won't admit it.
Captured me with sweet nothing, ready to commit,
But then left me hanging like "You're on Your Own, Kid".

I don't know why, it's vague. Can I ask a question...?
What went wrong, why the sudden change of decision?
Like the snow on the beach, it was a perfection,
But was sorrow when it went out of direction.

I'm an anti-hero, trying my very best,
'cause you're the mastermind, putting me on a test,
But thankfully, I got out from your shitty mess.
So, careful 'cause I'll just let karma do the rest.

The end of this maroon-themed "film" of ours comes near.
As swift as the midnight, it'll always disappear,
But it gave me lessons to learn and to ponder,
With that, I am grateful, always and forever.

Now in the lavender haze with the midnight rain,
Easing the labyrinth I had so much in pain.
For years, bejeweled with dramas I can't restrain.
Now, the raindrop's keeping me calm, peaceful and sane.

Moonlit Melancholy

Moonlit Melancholy
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

They say love is potentially lethal.
It's true, I'm in grave, you're so skeptical.
Date invites, for you, those were comical,
Sadly, what I got was mere refusal.

And even handpicked flowers served no best,
It just made your eyes roll from east to west.
It's really so hard to be on this quest,
Like finding the right answer on a test.

I don't need any magic or potion,
That'll serve no purpose for my intention,
'coz I knew I was never an option,
And that had always been your conviction.

Chances never grew as high as a vine.
Got no luck 'cause you always draw a line,
And that hurt me, though you were never mine.
I'm in pain, but no worries, I'll be fine.

Along the beach with the moon above me,
With nothing but wine, felt serenity.
Sounds of waves, added dramatically,
Yeah, that was my moonlit melancholy.

Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

You gave me some little smirk & brown guilty eyes,
Seemed inauthentic like a beauty in disguise,
And then you frowned like you've got no surprise,
That's how woeful my life was, full of dark skies.

Tried so hard to be everything that you like,
Even tried shouting your name using a mic,
That got you annoyed, almost gave me a strike.
I'm aching 'cause you're a mountain, hard to hike.

I don't talk much to everyone except you,
But you're uninterested, treats me like a foe.
I won't complain 'cause I'm never in your shoe.
And all I can do is wait like I'm on a queue.

But I got tired, wanted to end everything,
Gave you third chances, but you're never learning.
It was easy for you to see me leaving,
But for me, it's so hurtful and heartbreaking.

A day passed and I saw you with someone new,
I admit I got jealous, don't like the view.
Tried to convince myself that it's just for show,
But it wasn't, it's real that I'm losing you.

You seemed very happy and you looked blooming.
Guess you've really found someone more exciting.
Good memories with you is what I'm keeping,
I'm happy with the decision you're taking.

And now, I'm just wishing you both all the best.
For the sake of your new one, please be honest.
Don't worry 'bout me, I'll be okay, promise.
I'll be dealing with my unfinished business.

Mark My Words
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Mark my words, something good is coming your way.
You aimed for nothing but positivity,
Thus, you will be rewarded accordingly,
Because you worked hard for this wholeheartedly.

Mark my words, you deserved to love and be loved.
With your genuine heart, you shouldn't be snubbed,
Undeserving of pain like you're being stabbed.
Heart deserving of love, no-good to get robbed.

Mark my words, you are worthy of happiness.
With your presence, there is always joyfulness.
The joy you brought to us is all with kindness,
Thus, it should be reciprocated with bliss.

Mark my words, someday you'll become successful.
Reach for your dreams 'cause nothing's impossible.
Set your goals and aim high while you're still able.
Life's beautiful, live for the hope of it all.

Happy Father's Day!

A Haiku for my Father in Heaven

You were a great Dad.
Thankful 'cause I have your genes,
Glad 'cause you're with God.

Space

Space

I left not because I don't want you,
I left because I just needed to,
And it doesn't mean I don't love you,
But I just need some space from you.

Kiss in the Wind

Kiss in the Wind
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Sipping a cup of coffee normally starts my day
But more than that is seeing your face so heavenly,
And this adoration for you grows like an ivy
Refined through time and cultivated substantially.

To be in Paris, City of Love, is such a dream
But to be with you would make me jubilant with vim.
Admiration is never really part of a scheme.
This came naturally to me just like the sun's beam.

Our time is running fast but I have much to spend
With you, longing and loneliness are about to mend.
Unfortunately, what we've had has come to an end.
I can't do anything but send a kiss in the wind.

Wanna Play?

Wanna Play?
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

'Twas a sunny day but you were up for some rove.
You were wearing a headpiece that your mother wove.
Wandering around then stopped by some sort of shove,
I wanted to come near you but can't barely move.

But you caught me with your eyes, walked close to me,
Made my heart pump fast which led me to sigh hardly.
Caressed me with your gentle hand, made me happy,
To the rhythm of the wind, we danced gracefully.

Swinging back & forth through the air caught in motion,
Levitating like we're on a different dimension.
As we elevated, joy's in proliferation,
Just you and me without minding the distraction.

But just when I thought I'm the happiest with you,
You suppressed everything we've had & said we're through.
You left me hanging all alone, found something new.
In pain with what you've said, hoping that it's untrue.

Without you, silence is a very deafening sound.
A once fun-filled space now turned into just a ground.
And I've realized I'm a swing in a playground,
You always come to have fun and just play around.

Lost in Direction

Lost in Direction
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

The wooden seat was left empty for us to sit,
While the wind blew hard like a storm's about to hit,
But unlike the wind, you're calm, quite the opposite,
And the connection between us just can't trasmit.

I wore the same jewel that you gave me months ago.
Back then, we're happy, there's love between me and you.
Like Disney characters on a picturesque view,
We've shared memories together and nothing felt blue.

"I'll never leave you" was one of your statements,
But everything has changed, turned into fragments.
You've lost interest, can't contain all of my sentiments.
I don't know how to get out from these predicaments.

I can't fathom you leaving me so easily.
You used to make jokes to make me laugh loudly,
But now, the joke's not funny, it makes me weepy,
And happiness has turned into insanity.

There's no sign, never expected this to happen.
It really hurt me so bad like I was smitten.
Tearful eyes were the only thing I can attain.
How I wish these drops of rain will cure all the pain.

As the rain dropped, you stood and held my hands so tight.
Seconds passed and we're pictured in that dolesome sight,
Unclenched our hands, we were out of words to recite.
You turned your back at me and never glanced just right.

You walked languidly, took the road less travelled by,
I took the other way under a gloomy sky.
As we parted ways, heavy rain fell from up high,
And that's our prosaic but remarkable goodbye.

I thought I've lost you, but 'twas a misconception,
I lost me, it was such a late realization.
One thing that I have learned from this tribulation
Was finding myself from being lost in direction.

Puhon

Puhon
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Pagkalami lang damgohon ug pangandoyon,
Nga kitang duha mag-uban sa tanang higayon,
Kita makigbisug sa pagsulay aron mas malig-on
Ako ug ikaw, sa kalipay ug kalisud nga panahon.

Apan kining atong gugma, wala pa gyuy siguro,
Kita na ba? Uyab ba ta? Wala sad ko kabalo.
Kung mag-uban ta, kailangan ba nato magtago?
"Basin naay makakita", maoy tubag nimo kanako.

Kabalo ko's akong limitasyon ug asa ko kutob,
Maong dili ko magpataka-taka lang ug tunob.
Kay ang gugma murag bangka, pwede mokulob,
Dili sad ni sinina nga pwede mabali pagkasul-ob.

Parehas tang duha, dili pa andam mosugal,
Kay gugma nato dili pa lig-on sama sa bakal.
Kulang pa kini sa tam-is, daw murag asukal.
Dapat mura ug lapis, nindot ang pagkatahal.

Bisag ani atong kahimtang, ako nalipay gihapon,
Nga ikaw akong nakaila ug gitagaan ug higayon.
Atong istorya di pa andam sa uban, dili pa karon,
Pero andam ko maghulat nga ikaw maakoa puhon.

Fallen

𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

I was a little branch of an old oak tree,
And you were a bird on a flying spree,
In search of a shade, chirping in sultry,
So I let you rest on me, all for free.

My leaves sheltered you from the extreme heat,
And to show thanks, you chanted me a tweet.
I was astounded with your lovely skit,
Wanted to hear more from you on repeat.

I was your favorite branch as time went by.
You helped me bloom as pleasing as the sky,
Offered you my acorns to eat and try,
You stayed like you had nowhere else to fly.

We've been like that like we're inseparable,
For years, I've known you being lovable.
You hurting me was quite unthinkable,
But I was wrong, things went off the table.

Autumn came, my leaves slowly went falling.
You knew it, so you left without telling.
I was hurt knowing that you're migrating.
These leaves of mine plunged like I was crying.

Then my twigs started falling on the ground,
Fallen twigs and fallen leaves were abound.
Nobody was there to catch them around.
Soil will cover them and they can't be found.

Not Anymore

Not Anymore
(A sequel to "Just A Stranger")
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

I was about to leave but you said "hey!",
That single word made my heart so happy,
Prevented myself from shouting in total glee.

I finally got a chance to know you even more,
Thrilled 'coz you let me in by opening your door.
You're no longer just a stranger, not anymore.

Just A Stranger

Just A Stranger
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

With a single glance, you made my day better,
Like the world stopped, I can't help but stare.
Your attractive aura's all over the atmosphere.

Something's pushing me to get to know you closer.
Wanting to hold you, and caress you so tender,
But I'm afraid 'coz you're totally just a stranger.

Clandestine Love Affair

Clandestine Love Affair
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Morning fresh air was pleasantly breathable,
As the sun rose, daylight became visible.
In the woodland where I saw you standing tall,
Well-groomed, kempt and agreeably gentle.

Smiles greeted us as our eyes met expressively.
It was like we have missed each other sincerely,
And we both drew ourselves closer intimately.
Your both hands gripped in mine inseparably.

Sat on a board talking 'bout our secret language,
It is the only thing that the both of us can engage.
If someone sees us together, we'll be like on a stage,
Be judged, talked about, others might went savage.

Always the woodland is our secret rendezvous,
Frightened about the things we've never been through.
We're like musicians making our first ever debut.
A lot of time is needed for it not to be called a fiasco.

Then, the time on your wristwatch turned six,
You suddenly stood up faster like you did some tricks.
We bid our goodbyes 'coz we're afraid of the risks,
About to part ways so I kissed you on your cheeks.

Our love may not be that ready for the world to discover,
But that doesn't mean we'll keep it in the burrow forever.
For you, happiness and love are the things I can share.
I'm just grateful having you in our clandestine love affair.

Wild Imagination

Wild Imagination
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Relieved whenever you are around,
Ecstatic feeling like a congenial sound.
Loneliness is cured and nowhere to be found.

Longing for your presence, I can't mound,
Appears to be an inspiration, much if expound,
No single charm of yours failed to astound.

Your smile is one thing that I adore the most,
Beautiful, charismatic and contagious,
An aesthetic worthy of an applause.

Nevertheless, you're still way out of my reach.
Even a simple touch, I can't barely establish.
Zilch for me to contrive, 'coz you don't exist.

Knowing that you're just a wild imagination
Yanks my happiness, gives me depression,
Obsession now turned into affliction.

Now, I want to shout and scream,
Gosh, you are merely just a dream.

That Was Swift

That Was Swift
by: Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

"I thought you were the 1, but you left me hanging.
Life became dark, messy, rowdy and free-falling,
when you cut off our so-called invisible string.
I can still remember, that was August seven."

I was much in loved to a lady named "Betty",
She's from the last great american dynasty.
We're like Jack and Rose, she's rich, I'm in poverty,
And this is about our fairytale-like love story.

I was 22 when we first met out of plan.
She was wearing a red dress with a cardigan.
I was in total awe for at least a second.
Everything was perfect like the beam of the sun.

An innocent face, everyone would hesitate,
She's like a mirrorball, careful, she's delicate,
But she came for peace, and yes, we all do like it,
She then walked near me, pushed by destiny or fate.

Along Cornelia Street, she bought some of my fruits,
While buying, she caught my heart like a thief that loots.
She smiled at me, 'twas perfect like quotable quotes.
I trembled, wanted to shout like an owl that hoots.

And that became the best day of my existence,
'Coz I fell in love with her as deep as a trench.
And she regularly bought fruits, gripped it in clench,
I was the happiest, smile was always in presence.

Everything was all too well, bright as the daylight,
But everything has changed and all turned into fright,
When our illicit affairs were known and in sight,
But what they've heard wasn't a hoax, it's true, they're right.

Her mother knew it and became a mad woman.
She wanted us to part ways as far as we can.
Her father was ireful, thought me as just no one,
Then my tears ricochet, it's getting out of hand.

Betty was put on exile, far from me to catch.
I was in epiphany why she didn't made a latch,
Because the both of us weren't really a match.
It felt like death by a thousand cuts, I can't patch.

Now, this is me trying to move on from the pain,
Not ready for it but reality comes in.
We are just like the lakes, we don't meet in the end.
The story of us was a cruel summer I'd been.

The folklore of me and you should never be kept,
Lover of a lady with reputation to lift.
Speak now in fearless or you will be in grief.
If this was a movie, it's haunted, that was swift.

N - Now we're pleading and asking you a favor,
A - All illness be healed, and diseases be cured.
V - Vanish all worries and what people endured.
I - In you we believe because you are our savior.
R - Reckoning on you is with faith and candor.
U - Unveil us your mercy with greatness and galore.
S - Saving all praises to you 'coz your love is pure.

Amen. 🙏

Grandiose View

Grandiose View
(A poem created in honor of Ariana Grande and her songs)
by: Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

Sitting by the shore, watching the #Moonlight,
Asking myself whether I did life right.
You then come near me walking, wearing white,
Makes my heart trembles but I'll #BeAlright.

We're feeling the cold winds of #December,
Sitting #SideToSide like no one else's care.
We've talked much, you're sweet like a #Sweetener.
It is almost ten but hey, #iDontCare.

We are simply like #BeautyAndTheBeast,
A #DangerousWoman I can't resist.
Waves of the ocean, we can #DanceToThis,
#HandsOnMe, let's go create #BetterDays.

Twelve midnight and you said #GoodNightAndGo,
And for #OneLastTime, I wish you won't do.
Oh, please stay 'coz I'm so #IntoYou,
Please do me a favor, #LetMeLoveYou.

#TheLightIsComing in the calm morning.
The meadow waves with fresh air I'm #Breathin,
I am imagining and #Daydreamin,
Yes, last night was indeed #MyEverything.

Seeing you again is #MyFavoritePart,
Healing the #Problem of my #TattooedHeart.
As I #Imagine you, makes my day start.
#TheWay you smile, it's entirely an art.

#AllMyLove for you is overflowing,
#InMyHead #OverAndOverAgain.
I can't resist, you're all that I'm thinking.
Might sounds #Greedy, but you're my heroine.

I can't help but #Adore you #Everyday,
Without you, I am just a #Nobody.
I'm #Needy, I want you #TooClose to me.
Darling, I want you to #BeMyBaby.

And it feels like #HoneymoonAvenue,
With a #PopularSong on the #Piano,
A great #Monopoly of me and you,
Pictured in a frame like a grandiose view.

As My Mood Swings

As My Mood Swings
by Mark Jhon Cardoza Oxillo

You may see me chuckling quietly.
that even others think i'm crazy,
Then you will be in obscurity,
Thinking 'bout the thing that saddens me.

You'll be irritated by my weirdness,
But don't you dare break my happiness.
I may be just nothing and worthless,
but i still need respect, to be honest.

Understanding me is like a puzzle,
You'll be on a test, it's very hassle.
It is like drawing lines in parallel
while jumping in a very high hurdle.

It's a shame that I can't even handle this
But it's really hard on my part, promise!
You may think I badly need a psychiatrist,
but all I want is someone to grasp and caress.

I know that attitude is now really a thing,
And bipolarity is not worth-appreciating.
Treachery and perfidy were so heart-breaking.
But please do bear with me as my mood swings.
